Wolfgang Becker-Brüser, doctor and editor of a pharmaceutical magazine in Germany, has said that the mass H1N1 vaccination planned for autumn is a “large-scale experiment on the people of Germany”. He said that the clinical trials to ensure the safety of the candidate vaccines are not comprehensive enough.

His comments come as the head of health in Bremen, Dr Matthias Gruhl, said that a mass vaccination programme was not necessary since there is no sign that the “swine flu” is mutating to become more lethal.
