Update from Kevin Annett, human rights activist, on his campaign to expose the role of Canada’s churches and police in child abuse crimes, especially of Native women and children.
“Hi everyone,
The Canadian government’s official whitewash of the residential school [child abuse] crimes has officially opened in Winnipeg, Canada this past week, and our Winnipeg chapter was out in full force to rally people against the coverup and for the full inquiry represented by our new ITCCS. At protests we staged, we won national media coverage and many new supporters.
Based on this, several new groups have affiliated to our ITCCS and two or more indigenous elders will be journeying with me and a videographer this September and October to Europe for the next phase of our campaign, beginning with the convergence against the Pope in London on September 16.
Here’s our tentative itinerary: (the dates can be flexible, depending on your own plans and needs)
In England: September 14-21
Switzerland: September 22-26
Italy: September 28-October 3
Slovenia: October 4-7
Germany: October 8-13
Ireland: October 14-20
England: October 21-30 (to coincide with a book launch by me in London)

I am also hoping to travel to the east and to Australia in the new year of 2011.
Our film Unrepentant, about genocide in Canada, has been broadcast in Italian, English, French and German to several million people on German and Swiss TV networks, and along with a new documentary we are producing, will receive even greater circulation in the fall. We need your involvement in this film project.
To begin to build and coordinate our joint efforts, I’d like to produce a regular newsletter that unites all of us. If you could start sending me regular reports and updates from your own work, that would be great. My deadline for the first issue will be July 15.
