Polish authorities are investigating whether “artificial fog” could have caused the April plane crash that killed president Lech Kaczynski and 95 others, according to reports.

fog, which had thickened rapidly just before the arrival of the plane, had reduce visibility to little more than 650ft (200m), well short of the recommended minimum of 3,280ft (1,000m)
Poland reportedly wants access to US satellite photography that might cast new light on the weather conditions at the time of the crash, according to Gazeta Prawna, a Polish newspaper.
Prosecutors want help from American experts as to whether “there is a scientific and technical capacity to generate artificial fog”, the paper said.
