International Conference On Pandemics Opens In Accra

The Minister for Information, Hon. Fritz Baffuor, has underscored the need for greater efforts at collaboration between institutions to contain the outbreak and spread of pandemic influenza.
Mr Baffuor noted that despite the enormous strides made in pandemic preparedness, a global threat still existed. He commended the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Ghana Health Service, Veterinary Services and other stakeholders for the immediate and effective containment of the Avian Influenza H1N1 in 2007 and the Pandemic Influenza in 2009/2010.
The Information Minister particularly cited NADMO, with the support and collaboration of other stakeholder institutions, for effectively co-ordinating a multi-sectoral response to all emergencies including epidemics and pandemic in Ghana and for continually spearheading the creation of awareness as well as preparedness response structures.
