Ebola spotlights the use of new tobacco plant bioweapon systems

The experimental treatment for Ebola comes from tobacco plants that have been turned into living pharmaceutical factories in a project also funded by the Pentagon.

“Using plants this way — sometimes called “pharming” — can produce complex and valuable proteins for medicines,” says the report.

Tobacco plants can also be turned into living bioweapons factories to produce huge quantities of lethal diseases at low cost.
