It was a propaganda stunt Josef Goebels would have been proud of.

Journalists working for Germany’s Nordrhein Westfalen state broadcaster, WDR, headquartered in Cologne, the site of the mass assaults against women by illegal migrants, were asked to sign an Open Letter denying that there was any political pressure on the content.

But the attempt to muster a propaganda letter denying that the state broadcaster was propaganda backfired spectacularly when WDR journalists, who are putting out that propaganda, refused to sign it.

The refusal of rank and file journalists to sign a letter endorsing government lies and contradictions as “independent” represents a devastating blow to the credibility of the state propaganda run by lawless dictator Angela Merkel as testified by top German judges.

Nordrhein Westfalen’s regional and Germany’s national broadcaster  became the target of criticism after they failed to report on the assault, robbery and rape of as many as a 1000 women by illegal migrants in Cologne on New Years Eve for days on end. And when they did report, they often omitted any mention that the perpetrators were Merkel’s migrant mob.

To save face, government fixers watered down the claims and lowered the bar to the point where all of 29 journalists, a tiny fraction of the 580 asked to sign, finally agreed to put their names to the propaganda letter.

Other journalists were invited to add their names to the commentary function in a looser signal of agreement. But only 146 did so.

That means, 70% of the 580 WDR journalists invited to sign an Open Letter stating the channel was not a government propaganda instrument refused to do so.

And that, even though they are putting their jobs at risk. The WDR journalists are, like most journalists today, overwhelmingly employed as freelance writers, exposing them to extreme financial pressures if they do not serve up the Merkel regime the propaganda about migrants that it wants.

The extraordinary Open Letter was believed to be necessary by the Merkel regime after a WDR journalist told Dutch radio that the station’s coverage of the migrant influx was subject to political censorship.

The journalist Claudia Zimmerman, who has been working for WDR for 23 years, said during the talkshow De Stemmung on radio Limburg 1 that she had instructions to support Angela Merkel’s unilateral Open Doors policy and to show problems related to migrants “in a more positve light.”

Asked if the instructions were written, she said

“In principle no, but we are naturally a public broadcaster, which means that there are various commissions which determine the shape of our programmes. And we are naturally very much instructed to report a little pro government.”

Horrified that the truth had slipped out, the WDR management apparently immediately summoned her for a good talk.

Claudia Zimmerman retracted her statement.

Oh, how foolish she had been! What nonsense she had uttered in a moment of madness, she predictably said.

But today, she gave an interview with the Rheinische Post where she said she was afraid she would lose her job if she told the truth, exposing the government’s economic mechanism for keeping journalists in line in 2016.

She reaffirmed her original claim that journalists were subject to pressures to follow the government line. She said she just said what “everyone else knew.”

“We all were silent about the facts,” she said, referring, it appears, to the fact that WDR did not report on the mass assault of women in Cologne on New Year’s Eve for days on end in spite of apparently having journalists in the centre.

By coincidence, Nordrhein Westfalen is also the location of the civil court which issued a Roland Freisler style political judgement against me in June, stamping me as a “supposed science journalist and well known conspiracy theorist.”

I was unable to contest the judgement until a few days ago because I did not even know the clearly politically motivated judgement had been made. In a hollow, show trial, neither I nor my lawyer attended the proceedings for a minor civil libel case or were informed about them. To this day, I do not know the domestic file number or name of the judge who issued a judgement which signals to all and sundry that the Merkel regime, which controls the courts as well as the media, will back anyone who wants to silence me.

In another bombshell, a political talkshow has been cancelled after CDU candidate for governor of Rheinland Pflaz Julia Klockner refused to allow the state TV channel, the SWR, to limit participants to the CDU, SPD and Green Party, apparently on the orders of the SPD Governor Malu Dreyer.

Incredibly, the SWR agreed, underlining that it is politicians who decide what appears in TV programmes in Germany, not journalists.

But Klockner rightly argued that politics means the freedom to debate issues and that all parties should be allowed to take part in the discussion, including the FDP and the AfD. The AfD is a mild and somewhat incompetent version of UKIP, but it nonetheless stamped as “extreme right” by Merkel’s regime because of their fierce criticism of her policies.
