The President of Greece’s Center of Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO) Professor Thanasis Giannopoulos has been fired for protesting the way the Alternate Health Minister Pavlos Polakis intervened in the appointment process for 500 doctors and nurses to Intensive Care Units.

Polakis appointed former Doctors of the World President in Greece Theofilos Rosenberg to replace Giannopoulos.

Polakis’ unusual intervention apparently to push candidates idelogically aligned with him intervention breaches procedures for appointing doctors and nurses and Giannopoulos has said he is considering a legal challenge.

The change of personnel at KEELPNO and in intensive care units across the country should be a red flag amid fears of infectious disease outbreak due to the migrant crisis.

In 2009, the then Health Minister, and current European Commissioner for Migration, Dimitris Avramopoulos, unveiled plans to give every single person in Greece the experimental and dangerous swine flu vaccine.

“We decided that the entire population, all citizens and residents, without any exception, will be vaccinated against the flu,” Health Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos said after a ministerial meeting.
