*AT LEAST 4,200 OUT OF 13,000 VOTES FAKE
*ESTABLISHMENT CANDIDATE ALEXANDER VAN DER BELLEN WON THE TOWN
*FRAUD SPOTTED ON INTERNET BY ORDINARY READER SCRUTINIZING LOCAL RESULTS
*INTERIOR MINISTRY FORCED TO ADMIT COULD BE MANY SIMILAR “MISTAKES”
*CORRECT RESULT ALTERED BY LOWER AUSTRIAN ELECTION AUTHORITIES IN ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEM
*INTERIOR MINISTRY OFFICIAL IN CHARGE OF ELECTION RESULTS AN ACTIVE SOCIAL DEMOCRAT POLITICIAN, RAISING ISSUE OF CONFLICT OF INTEREST
*SUDDEN REMOVAL OF INTERIOR MINISTER JOHANN MIKL LEITNER CLEARED WAY FOR FRAUD?
*NO SIGN OF ANY CHALLENGE TO “STOLEN” VOTE BY FREEDOM PARTY LEADERSHIP
An Interior Ministry election result for a town in Lower Austria showing establishment candidate Alexander van der Bellen as the winner included more than 4,000 none existent votes, apparently verifying accounts of voter fraud in Austria’s Presidential elections.
The official results for the town of Waidhausen and Ybbs record 13,262 votes as being cast or 4,200 more votes than the actual number of 9,026 people on the electoral roll. Establishment candidate Alexander van der Bellen won the town with 6,621 votes, bucking a nationwide trend of low support for the Green Party candidate in rural areas.
The fraud was spotted by an ordinary citizen scrutinizing the election results on the internet.
It is not clear how many of the 4,200 fake votes in Waidhausen and Ybbs were allocated to van der Bellen, but it cannot be ruled out that all of them were given to him.
The official margin by which Alexander van der Bellen won the vote is a razor thin margin of 36,000 votes.
The Interior Ministry said the election result was correctly communication by the town of Waidhausen and Ybbs to the Lower Austrian election authoritie. The results were altered by the Lower Austria authorities before being sent electronically to the Interior Ministry, which aggregates all the results.
The Interior Ministry official in charge of elections, Robert Stein, admitted in the Kurier newspaper that said other similar mistakes could not be ruled out, raising the spectre of a fraudulent election result.
The Interior Ministry official in charge of elections is Robert Stein, a politician holding an office for the Social Democrat party, or SPO, in a district of Vienna, raising the issue of potential conflicts of interest.
Furthermore, it has to be asked whether Interior Minister Johanna Mikl Leitner was removed from her position just before the elections precisely to enable election fraud to take place.
Although ostensibly promoted to the next candidate for the Governorship of Lower Austria, the suddenness and timing of the removal of Mikl Leitner by Lower Austria Governor Erwin Proell attracted speculation.
Particularly astonishing is the large showing for Alexander van der Bellen in Vienna. It defies belief that Van der Bellen received so many votes, especially from the pensioners, who in some districts exceed the number of young people, academics and professionals, who traditionally vote conservative or right wing .
It remains to be seen whether the Freedom Party leadership will contest the results. It is not plausible that the establishment would dare to engage in such large scale and obvious voter fraud unless they could count on the complicity of the Freedom Party leadership.
The fact that a random internet user spotted the election fraud strongly suggests the notion that the Freedom Party leadership, while theatrically issuing constant warnings about postal vote fraud, made few or no concrete arrangements to organize voters to scrutinize the regular vote to ensure it was conducted fairly.
Strache announced the defeat of Freedom Party candidate Norbert Hofer before the official result, making Al Gore look like a better actor when he contested the “stolen election” in Florida.
