GREEK PROSECUTORS FREEZE 200 MILLION EURO BANK ACCOUNTS OF VGENOPOULOS

A Greek financial prosecutor today ordered bank accounts in Greece belonging to banker Andreas Vgenopoulos, which contain 200 million euros, to be frozen in connection to a probe regarding allegations of tax evasion.

Vgenopoulos is also set to be questioned in Athens for his role in the collapse of the Laiki bank, which plunged Cyprus into crisis, costing the country billions, and resulting in vast losses for private individuals through bail ins.

The 200 million euros that Vgenopoulos has in Greek banks could well be just the tip of the ice berg.
