*IS THE LEAVE CAMP ORGANIZED AND READY TO MONITOR THE BREXIT VOTE?
*ARE THEY READY TO FILE A LEGAL CHALLENGE IF EVIDENCE OF ELECTION MALPRACTICE EMERGES?
*THE LEAVE CAMP CAN LEARN FROM THE INQUIRY INTO THE MAY PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN AUSTRIA IN MAY
The testimonies being given in Austria’s Constitutional Court on the way votes were counted for the presidential election in May should worry all UK citizens.
They confirm fears that election malpractice is widespread, and a Leave vote in the UK could easily be stolen.
The Vienna court has a narrow focus, limiting itself to when the votes were counted and by whom in accordance with the legal challenge filed.
The 90 witnesses summoned to testify are, moreover, being asked to do the almost impossible. They are being asked to incriminate themselves while the government is waving the threat of criminal charges at them if they dare speak out on a government sanctioned fraud. Is it any wonder that so many witnesses are pleading incompetence and ignorance as they face cross questioning?
Not under consideration by the court is whether there was any manipulation of votes when they were opened too soon or by unauthorized persons. Not under consideration is whether ballots were changed or filled out by others. Not under examination is whether there were fraudulent applications for the huge numbers of postal and proxy votes, or whether votes were changed or filled out by others, why there was such a large number of rejected ballots or the anomalies in the results of the Ministry of Interior data base.
Even with this narrow focus, what has emerged so far from the inquiry has fuelled calls for a re run of the presidential elections from across society.
The publisher of Oe24 Wolfgang Fellner said the way the votes were counted was something associated with the Congo. “Careless, illegal, without control so that the door and gate is opened to every manipulation”
Fellner calls for a re run of the presidential election and an end to the “postal vote” madness.
But all these irregularities are only coming to light because the Freedom Party filed a fairly strong challenge at the Constitutional Court just before the deadline expired.
But who in the UK is preparing to file a legal challenge should evidence emerge of massive fraud with postal votes, for example?
Who in the Leave camp is organizing observers to monitor the verification of votes and the actual vote counting process?
Who in the Leave camp has checked through all the voters registered, especially those registered in the two day extension given by David Cameron? Are there cases of 19 or so people being registered in one house?
And what about the emergency proxy votes? True, they just a tiny fraction of the overall vote unlike the postal vote, amounting to a fifth or even a quarter, but all these tiny amounts add up.
Who is checking whether people who are identifying themselves only with their birth date really are casting the vote? Or someone else?
If a person is so mentally challenged that they cannot sign their name, why should we assume they can remember their birth date or even fathom what they are voting on? Yet new extra lax rules will allow thousands to vote in the Brexit with no identification other than their birth date.
Will self appointed Leave camp leader, Boris Johnson, a Bullingdon Club member like David Cameron and George Osborne, file a challenge if there is evidence of massive voting irregularities?
Unlikely. Johnson has not unveiled a substantive plan to navigate the aftermath of a Brexit, something that would really be a blow to “Project Fear.”
His high profile media presence, populist approach and “blond beast” image are rather calculated to stoke fears that the UK is heading over a cliff rather than reassure the electorate.
Will some group emerge like the Blaue Allianz in Austria to contest the election? Organizing themselves on Facebook, the group appealed to the public to send them evidence of voter irregularities and even published much of it. But just before the deadline to file a challenge, their facebook page went offline without warning, and their promised legal action never materialized.
To this day, there has been no explanation from them about what happened just a fake Russian email address.
Acting in the style of classical controlled operation, the Blaue Allianz group, which includes elements of the AfD, tried to take over the protest movement only to run it into a wall.
Fortunately, the Freedom Party managed to get a substantial if narrow legal challenge filed within the one week deadline. There is a real chance of a presidential election re run in spite of enormous pressure from the government and establishment who are anxious to pass off the voter irregularities as “carelessness” which did not impact on the result.
It remains to see whether the Constitutional Court will go along with the government or uphold the law.
Either way, the faith of the people in Austria in the electoral system has been shaken to the core.
There are lessons there for the Leave camp as the UK prepares to go to the vote tomorrow.
