FBI director James Comey is emerging as one of the most dangerous and manipulative characters in the never ending scandals plaguing Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and now Donald Trump.
As a director of the HSBC when money laundering operations were being carried out to the benefit of the Clinton clan, Comey could have been expected as part of routine security checks to have red flagged the fact that Donald Trump and virtually his core team, including Wilbur Ross, are linked to Russian dirty money laundering scams as well as being in frequent contact with a well known spy recruiter, Russia’s ambassador Sergey Kislyak, meaning the Russians have significant leverage.
But he clearly sat on the information to gain some personal advantage.
Comey played a key role in letting Clinton use a private email server to run a cash for favours scam, which also involved Uranium deals with the Russians. Instead of being prosecuted, he has remained in his job, perhaps because he had the “dirt” on Trump.
Comey is refusing to reveal intelligence to Congress, the leading Democrat on the House intelligence committee said.
“At this point we know less than a fraction of what the FBI knows,” U.S. Representative Adam Schiff told reporters after Comey briefed the Republican-led committee.
On Wednesday, Schiff said the committee would investigate allegations of collusion between Republican Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and Russia as part of its probe into allegations of Russian meddling in the election.
But he said the FBI had yet to give the panel a full intelligence briefing and they will call Comey back.
“There were very large areas that were walled off, and those walls are going to have to come down if we are going to do our job,” Schiff said.
