US deports Russian spy working for bank linked to Jared Kushner

The U.S. has deported a Russian spy, who worked at the same bank whose head has had business dealing with Jared Kushner, after releasing him early from prison.

Evgeny Buryakov, 42, worked as an employee in the New York office of the Russian bank Vnesheconombank (VEB) before being convicted of operating as an agent of Russia’s foreign intelligence agency without following U.S. law requiring he register as an agent of a foreign government, according to a statement Wednesday from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Jared Kushner met Sergey N. Gorkov, chief of Vnesheconombank, which is on the U.S. sanctions list in December.

The Senate Intelligence Committee may question Kushner about any discussions with Gorkov concerning VEB bank investing in the Kushner family property business if the Trump administration agreed to lift sanctions from Russia, media report.
