A split has opened up between Washington and London over Syria after Theresa May refused to back any new air strikes against Assad.
Donald Trump as well as his generals H R McMaster and James Mattis have threatened to launch a fresh round of missile strikes on the regime in a desperate stunt to deflect attention from the probes into Trump’s links with Russian oligarchs.
But their rush to start World War Three has suffered a setback after the UK Prime Minister said she would not support more strikes.
Pentagon Chief James Mattis reported that the missile strike destroyed about 20% of Syria’s airforce, leaving the US forces fighting ISIS as well as the Christian and pro Assad population more vulnerbable to ISIS attacks.
In 2014, then US Chief of Staff Martin Dempsey and other generals allegedly refused to follow the orders of Barack Obama and bomb Assad following a false flag chemical weapons attack, saying they were not going to be ISIS’ airforce.
Hopes that Mattis might be a general of the same calibre and act as a break on any attempt by Trump to misuse foreign policy or the military for PR stunts have now been well and truly dashed.
It is a sign of how disconnected, compartmentalized and deluded he is that Mattis announced the destruction of 20% of an allied airforce by his missiles as a triumph.
That, although a US base has just been attacked by ISIS and special forces are fighting ISIS on the ground in Syria.
Now we know why Mattis earned the sobriquet Mad Dog, right?
Instead of refusing or resigning at the policy U turn made by a president under FBI investigation, and one which has dramatically increased the risk of WW3 and chaos in the Middle East, not to mention Europe facing new flows of ISIS terrorists and migrants, Mattis has put himself fully and squarely behind the disastrous decision.
Hopefully, Trump will soon be clapped in federal prison and his generals McMaster and Mattis, clearly carefully chosen because they are unhinged, authoritarian opportunists, will be stripped of their ranks and expelled from the military for agreeing to military action in violation of the Constitutional requirement of Congressional approval.
Mattis has long enjoyed the reputation of being a thinker and strategist. That repuation is now in tatters.
If they are willing to go along with Trump in this, what else might they be willing to go along with? An Ebola false flag leading to martial law and mass forced quarantines?
A sign of how close Trump’s generals like H R McMaster are, in reality, to doubtful figures like Steve Bannon is the fact that both of them returned on the same Airforce One flight from Florida where Trump launched missile strikes from his private golf course without consulting Congress.
