US Defense Secretary James Mattis has threatened to destroy the people of North Korea in an ultimatum on Wednesday, dramatically increasing the chance of WW3.
He told Kim Jong Un to “cease any consideration of actions that would lead to the end of its regime and destruction of its people” just one day after President Donald Trump warned that the US could unleash nuclear”fire and fury” on the regime.
“The DPRK must choose to stop isolating itself and stand down its pursuit of nuclear weapons,” Mattis said, adding that the “regime’s actions will continue to be grossly overmatched by ours and would lose any arms race or conflict it initiates.”
By his statement, Mattis has further undermined the credibility of the USA.
Let’s be clear. Trump is now widely perceived not to be acting in the interests of the USA but in his own interests.
Trump’s incendiary language on Tuesday escalated the crisis with North Korea while narrowing the policy options for dealing with it does not serve the US interest. To be painted into a policy corner by a deranged president is not in the US interest.
Few Americans can also get why North Korea only poses such an existential threat whenever Trump is on vacationing at a golf course, usually with Bilderberger H R McMaster (supported by Jared Kushner and George Soros) in tow, and whenever the Senate and Congress are in recess and so impaired in their ability to oversee his actions.
They can’t get why economic tariffs against China are suddenly off the table as a negotiating tool, since this was a major plank of Trump’s campaign.
It is clear as daylight Trump is trying to start a WW£ conflagration to divert from an FBI investigation into the extent to which he and his teams are pawns of Russians and Goldman Sachs. Months and months of war headlines will help him in his cause if the war does not go nuclear very soon and blow us all up.
Instead of calming the situation and putting US interests first, Mattis has poured more fuel on the fire by backing Trump. His statement will fuel fears the generals do not have the creative, mental capabilities to deal with sophisticated international and domestic threats, mind and propaganda games, innovative new forms of warfare or anything beyond the classical, one dimensional battlefield. They really are the one sided specialists, unable to cope with any challenges or problems outside their field.
The notion of a false flag to lure an attack dog like Mattis into action likely is totally beyond his mental scope.
Mattis does not seem to have even grasped the rules of warfare conducted on a larger scale than a battlefield. He ignores in his statement the fact North Korea could suck in South Korea into a conflict and then find China and Russia as its allies. He posits, instead, the comfortable but unrealistic notion the US will find itself in a one to one confrontation with Korea. There it does indeed enjoy overwhelming military might, making everyone wonder why it so necessary to threaten it in the first place with destruction.
Worst of all, Mattis has just signalled to the entire world the Trumpzone is spreading and it is worth bribing a US president because however ridiculous, mad, disastrous, self interested his policies might be, the Pentagon’s top staff will go along with it out of personal political ambitions or sheer stupidity.
